#Oxide plans new rack attack with #Zen5 #CPU, #DDR5
Upcoming gear will include new compute blades powered by #AMD's #Turin #EPYC, boasting core counts of up to 192 cores and support for faster DDR5 6400 MT/s memory — big upgrade over comparatively glacial DDR4 3200 MT/s memory shipped in OG Oxide rack
Cantrill says Oxide will offer GPUs at some point, but argues ompany has plenty of work left to do with regard to CPU, storage, and networking to keep it busy for now.

#Intel #Xeon #6980P vs. #AMD #EPYC9755 128-Core Showdown With The Latest #Linux Software For EOY2025 Review
As #2025 comes to an end, today's article is a fresh look at these latest-generation Intel Xeon and AMD #EPYC processors while using an up-to-date Linux software stack compared to the prior launch day testing last year.
A lot of dominating results by the AMD EPYC 9755 compared to the #Xeon6980P flagship at the same 128 core / 256 thread count per socket.

Intel Xeon 6980P vs. AMD EPYC 9755 128-Core Showdown With The Latest Linux Software For EOY2025 Review

Since receiving the Gigabyte R284-A92-AAL1 a while back as a Xeon 6900 series 2U server platform to replace the failed Intel AvenueCity reference server, I have been getting caught-up in fresh Xeon 6980P Granite Rapids benchmarks with the latest software updates over the past year.

#EPYC #AIInference #CPU #GPU #MachineLearning #Hardware #Vietnam #CôngNghệ

Waiting for #AMD to release the RDSEED #microcode fix for the "embedded" #EPYC 4005 series. I think it will be the first time I ever needed or wanted to update my CPU firmware. I know a bit more about it now that I attended the talk about AMD Zen microcode tools at the #39C3.

Now that I have a handful of multi-core Xeon systems my new obsession is having more PCIe lanes.

I think if nothing else my #homelab has expanded my understanding of computer hardware. I would be a lot more confident building a system if provided with a decent-sized budget (i.e. $25K-$50K)

But in the meantime, I'm looking at the prices of used Epyc CPUs and wondering where all the cheap motherboards are. I see plenty of LGA 2011 boards made in China for $100 or so. Where are the #Epyc boards?

A new blog post where @alexhaydock goes into some detail showcasing our minimalistic @alpinelinux Tor relays architecture, a threat model, and including a link to our now-public open source "Emerald Relays" orchestration framework.

The past 6 months have proven its success, and now we look forward to phase 2 (read the post!), which we need your help in funding. Emerald Onion is a U.S. 501(c)(3) tax-deductible nonprofit, so please consider donating before 31 December! https://emeraldonion.org/donate/
