The third day of KuppingerCole Analysts EIC2026 was another wonderful day. I attended a few presentations and spoke with a lot of people, just like the other days. And I think that I should share some more details about a few presentations. Yep, photo's attached. And for one presentation I just created a collage, if I would post all pictures, that would cause a Denial of Service of LinkedIn... Better yet, you should try to view the recording if it's available. This session was fun because the presentors, one of them online) made a comparison between Nuclear power plant safety/security and Agentic AI security, about the failure modes. Of course you can make any comparison, but this one really gave some nice insights. Two remarks: Already some controls seem to exist (the colored circles in the rings around the AI kernel) the black circles are missing, more research must be done (at least if you follow the nuclear analogy). Nuclear safety is enforced by lots of regulations and that took 80 years to mature enough to make it secure. "We don't have 80 years" to make AI behave... Great presentation by Vlad Shapiro and Sully Crevecoeur. Wallet talks by my colleague Henk Marsman, about his PhD research into wallet business value... not sure if there will ever be a positive financial business case... and we learned about the progress in decentralized identity using a wallet in the Dutch educational sector. The pilot programs are running and large scale implementation is not a technical problem.. nice update from Juul D. and Peter Eikelboom. Third major topic is about standards. We had a talk by Stina Ehrensvard and a presentation by John Bradley about OpenID and Fido standards making secure data exchange easier. Stina highlighted nice use cases for decentralized identity and John showed that on device signing of keys is better than using remote HSM when on the 5G move... And George Fletcher explained the current status of a lot of Identity related standards and he also showed what the standards community is working on. In fact there are multiple standards communities, reminding me again of https://xkcd.com/927/ Sorry for posting this amount of text. And there will be some more... As on every EIC day the exhibition floor was packed with lots of people you should speak to. So I did. We talked about standards too, discussed the future of IGA (end of life in my opinion, just like Active Directory and RBAC, but these will keep us busy for the next 20 years...), policy engines and models (thank David Brossard for your insights). Met some old colleagues. Today I'm traveling back home after this valuable event. Enjoy the pictures.
