A little bit of sightseeing of Bremen after #EHPS2023
It was wonderful to catch up with my dear colleague and fantastic #stigma researcher Sarah Stutterheim at the #EHPS2023

The train trip to Bremen gives me a good opportunity to digest (pun intended, sorry) the excellent keynote by @juttamata on why we eat what we eat #EHPS2023

Social aspects play a huge role, and we’ve only just begun to properly study real-life settings. There will be a large role to play for sensor-driven and AI-based approaches, such as the ones we are currently developing at OnePlanet Research Centre https://www.oneplanetresearch.nl/thema/preventive-health-nutrition-behaviour/

Precision Health, Nutrition & Behavior - OnePlanet Research Center

With the help of new technologies, OnePlanet Research Center works on improving quality of life and reducing the pressure on and costs in healthcare. OnePlanet Research Center is focussing on preventive health because of the major influence of nutrition on our health.

Time to brave the heat and take the train to Bremen for my in-person second half of #EHPS2023!

I planned to watch the keynote on train wifi, but that mythical creature is not around, so I am going to deplete my mobile data plan right until I reach the German border, where all mobile coverage ceases

(Like the famous joke goes: “Warum kann Spidermann nicht in Deutschland wohnen? - Kein Netz…”)

"Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards" is not the only thing I learned in a strong session on stress and snacking at #EHPS2023

Some key takes:
– Stress ⬆️ our intention-behaviour gap in snacking (rather than affecting snacking behaviour directly)
– Latent emotional eating is a thing
– Stress affects different food categories differently
– Interpersonal stress: snacking ⬆️
– Work-related stress: snacking ⬇️
– All measurements were self-report, which makes measuring outcomes difficult

Yesterday I presented our study on accessibility of mental health care for deaf and hard of hearing people from perspectives of careusers and health care professionals at #EHPS2023. We suggest there is structural stigma explained by the gap in perceptions of accessibility. You can read the paper here: https://www.tijdschriftvoorpsychiatrie.nl/nl/artikelen/article/50-13134_Structureel-stigma-in-ggz-voor-doven-en-slechthorenden-perspectief-van-clienten-en-zorgverleners or see a video summary in sign language here https://www.komevenpraten.be/onderzoek.html

The final presentation provides an overview of tools that make use of the BCIO
One that sounds like a killer feature of the Paper Authoring Tool: "Export machine readable versions of papers" 🤩

The first talk introduced the BCIO and now for the most important question: what is actually the difference between a taxonomy and an ontology? #ehps2023

Wohoo .. I am especially excited about this symposium about the Behaviour Change Intervention Ontology at #ehps2023
