Time for the obligatory #Flatlay before the Culford Sprint Triathlon tomorrow!

300m pool swim,
20km bike ride (12.4 miles)
4km run

My first adventure into triathlons after a 12 week training plan, excited and somewhat apprehensive!

Time for a pre race #flatlay before the @dorneylake duathlon tomorrow!

Checked in, kit checked, bike checked, time to relax!

Quite nervous as I'm very new to the bike and haven't been on track with my running at all this month, the goal is to go out there and try something totally new, and hopefully have a bit of fun in the process!

If you're keen to progress in sport and you're working with #EhlersDanlosSyndrome, biomechanical analysis can be incredibly helpful to pick up problems with form, weak muscle activation and compensation, and much more.

Here's my experience of having a gait analysis done to help with my running form: https://trainingwitheds.com/blog/articles/when-did-you-learn-how-to-run-properly - I learned so much and it's really improved the focus in my strength training and as a result, my running form has also improved.

When did you learn how to run properly?

A community for people with EDS who are interested in physical activity and training with EDS.

Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome often involves walking a fine line between being well and not.

If you're also training as an athlete, this is compounded by the inevitable time when you pick up (one or more) injuries, or have to navigate a flare-up, impacting your training.

Check out our post about how you can use cross-training to work around such challenges, and some important considerations:

A few pics from last weekend's 4.5 hour run, it was hard going and a sobering reminder that in 6 weeks I'll be doing 4x the distance .... Yikes!

Also, dates filled with peanut butter are my new favourite run snack!

Keeping on keeping on, active recovery week this week so much shorter runs. Still breaking in the new trainers which I'm just taking slowly.

Here's a before and after that I made, shows the significant increase in range of movement after only a few hours.

The exercises I have are still painful and physio starts next week, with a consultant review in 2 weeks, so there's a long road ahead but I'm super delighted with the outcome so far.

Really looking forward to days with considerably less pain and hopefully undisturbed sleep after so many months!

Cross-training with EDS to manage injuries

Yesterday I shared on my Instagram feed about having to switch all my training over to bike-based for cardio and lower body/core for strength training due to injury, so I wanted to share a few things I've learned along...

Day 2 #rwrunstreak .. getting back to running after #injury is hard! 4 months off in my case.

Keeping it short, focusing on cadence and technique. Hard work as it forces my pace higher, but great to be back on it!

Snagged some new #Brooks kicks in the sale so looking forward to them arriving!

Day 1 of run streak in the bag after 4 months out for injury rehab.

1 mile run/walk/run focusing on form, technique and cadence in the run sections.

Hoping the focus on technique rather than just keeping going at all costs will stand me in good stead going forward into my next ultra training program starting in January!
