In case there's any doubt, #DABPQ will be repaired and returned to flight after today's nose gear collapse. Lufthansa has heavy maintenance facilities at #FRA / #EDDF. So there won't be any ferry flight needed. Repairs will take some months. After repairs, passengers won't know any difference. Only avgeeks will know by the tail number it was the plane in this incident. #aviation #travel #avgeek
I looked up history of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in today's nose gear collapse at the gate in Frankfurt #FRA / #EDDF. #DABPQ is Dreamliner line number LN1196 built at Charleston CHS. First flight April 16, 2025. Flight tests used callsign BOE516. It was in San Antonio SKF for interior work including seating. (Lufthansa and other airlines have had delays in Boeing & Airbus widebody deliveries waiting for seats.) Ferried to Everett PAE Oct 16. Delivered Jan 17, 2026. #aviation #travel #avgeek
"Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 โ€œHerneโ€ suffers nose gear collapse at Frankfurt Airport, crew members injured" by Aviation24[.]be - Boeing 787-9 nose gear collapsed while at the gate in Frankfurt #FRA / #EDDF. Passengers had not boarded yet for the flight to LAX. Some employees were injured. An investigation will have to determine the cause. But at the gate this usually means someone raised the landing gear lever without a lock pin in place. https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/lufthansa-group/lufthansa/boeing-787-9-herne-suffers-nose-gear-collapse-at-frankfurt-airport-los-angeles-flight-cancelled/ #aviation #travel #avgeek #oops
