“Meetings” are inherently special, being unscheduled, typically in response to developing events and/or a specific request by a State Party.

#Qatar on behalf of #Syria requested a special meeting of #OPCW #ExecutiveCouncil, regarding “the #Israeli air strike on 16 July 2025 targeting several sites in #Damascus, including the General Staff Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence.
The Ministry of Defence plays a critical role in supporting the OPCW Technical Secretariat's deployed teams in Syria.” (from Qatar’s note verbale request)

The OPCW Executive Council will convene on 22 July 2025 for a special meeting requested by the State of Qatar, in accordance with the Chemical Weapons Convention.
