@tomkindlon Thanks, Tom, it's good to remind people that ambulatory wheelchair users exist! ❤️

But I didn't know that it was the majority of wheelchair users.

I even have a t-shirt with this message (see attached) to try to fend off any shocked stares when I stand up.

@ahimsa_pdx I wish I could boost this a thousand times.

I hate and love how I get to learn stuff off the internet, from strangers - while my healthcare provider just shrug their shoulders.

I felt such relief knowing I also fall under the term #DynamicDisability with my #chronicpain and #chronicillness I've had for almost 3 years now.

Disability is a spectrum

The same disability can affect each person differently. Even for individuals, a disability can feel different day-to-day. "I have good days and bad days, sometimes with significant swings in between," Kristen Kingzett, who has juvenile idiopathic arthritis, said.

"Some people have disabilities that come and go," Kristen Bettega said. No one questions that major physical diseases like cancer develop and then go into remission.

There will always be turds that take advantage of stuff. But if you have enough, that small percentage won't make a huge impact. If there's enough accessible seating on the bus, we wouldn't have to fight over it. Making accessibility the centered, and easy choice, makes for a better future.

This includes the anti car people, who do not understand the dynamic and varied experiences of disabled people. I want walkable cities, too, but they need to center disabled people in the conversation. A huge reason I have kept driving cars is because there are no masking norms on public transit. My disability includes being high risk for covid, and other illnesses.

I am in a lot of pain tonight. I am so tired of this dynamic disability bullshit. It was tough just making tea in the kitchen. Sigh. #disability #dynamicdisability #chronicpain

Reminder that disability is a spectrum. It is sad to see so many disabled people accused of "faking" because they can walk, type, or engage in physical activities sometimes.
