4.5⭐️ - Very much enjoyed this, so stinking cute and fun, with just enough drama to keep it interesting.
I picked this book up on impulse after one look at the cover. As a regular D&D player and game nerd who also loves musical theatre, it was a perfect mashup of worlds as Riley (the FMC) slowly falls in love with roleplaying. The found family that forms is nicely rounded, each with their own stuff going on, and compliments the biological family drama Riley experiences.
I enjoyed this so much to read it in less than 24hrs and I only fail to give it five stars because I was left feeling a tiny bit unsatisfied that there wasn’t more epilogue and getting to see the characters develop at the end. That’s not to say it doesn’t have a solid ending... I just always want more.
