Europe's Drone Defense Gap Exposes Critical Infrastructure Risks

Europe's critical infrastructure is left vulnerable due to a lack of clear governance and rules of engagement, despite having the technology to defend against drone threats. The absence of ownership and jurisdictional clarity hinders the deployment of drone defense systems where they're needed most.

#Clackers: The Noisy Toy That Almost Became a Killer

Excerpt: "Clackers first emerged in 1968 as two glass spheres suspended on a string. When they were swung up and down, banging against each other with a lot of force, they made a loud 'clacking' sound. In 1970, it was decided to change the material of the spheres to plastic because they could eventually shatter and injure users or others nearby. The manufacturers thought the toy would be less prone to shatter if made from plastic. How wrong they were!

"The toy version that gained popularity in the 1970s consisted of two solid polymer balls, each about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter, attached to a finger tab with a sturdy string. At that time people called them differently: clackers, #ClickClacks, knockers, ker-bangers, and clankers. These names were primarily based on the brands and names given by their respective manufacturers.

"The precursor to this toy is considered to be #bolas, the Argentinian throwing weapon, made of weights on the ends of interconnected cords. They gained fame due to the gauchos, South American cowboys, who used them to catch 200-pound guanacos and rheas. Evidence shows that Mapuche and the Inca armies used them in battle. "
