Wir sind Ohana: First Community-Led Dreamin’ Event in Germany
Last week, I was at Wir sind Ohana – and it was awesome!
Berlin: A Unique Melting Pot
Berlin is an exciting place of diverse cultures. It is a one-of-a-kind city, unique across all of Europe.. The organizing committee chose Kosmos as their location, an old movie theater on the East side of Berlin. This location consisted of multiple rooms, all connected to a round center room. I think the location worked very well because I rarely found myself running around and looking for my next room like I do at other venues.
Content creation can be a solitary endeavor, with most interactions happening in the virtual realm. However, the joy of seeing the tangible impact of your work in person is unparalleled. This is why I cherish the opportunity to engage with fellow enthusiasts and creators at community events.
Meeting Wonderful People
I met many fantastic people there. Astrid Feige, a trainer, told me she learned flows using my Udemy course. Koray Șahin, when faced with a flow task at work, volunteered to learn and deliver it. He also resorted to my Udemy course. I love flying halfway across the world and feeling the impact I make. Astrid and Koray, I appreciate you. My gratitude reserves have been refilled plenty.
Astrid Feige and Koray SahinEfficient Migration to Salesforce Flow Session
I delivered an Efficient Migration to Salesforce Flow session on May 24, 2024. The audience received it very well. I presented many tips and tricks from the migrate-to-flow projects I delivered. When a few German-speaking participants wanted to ask questions after the session, I told them they could ask them in German, which gave me good practice to polish my German language.
I am looking forward to recording this content in the near future and making it available virtually. Most of it is already available on the Salesforce Break website and scattered on the blog. If you are interested in this topic, you can start here.
A Special Moment
There was also a special moment I was lucky to witness. Narender Singh came over to talk to Jessica Watson. He shared how he was inspired listening to her talk and how that got him on the track that made him today. What a special moment that shows the power of community. I did not have much to do with it, but I can say, as an amateur photographer, that the vibe of the moment can be seen on the subject’s faces in pictures, and that has a lot to do with everybody there, including the photographer. You can see the summary of the moment, which Jessica shared here.
Thank You to the Organizers
I want to thank all the organizers: Daniel Strange, Ankit Taneja, Narender Singh, Nora Nicklis, Alex Maier, Christian Szandor Knapp, and Chetan Chugh. They have done a fantastic job, excelling for a first-time event and standing tall among all Dreamin events, including the ones that have been around for years.

#Automation #Dreamin #Event #Germany #Ohana #WirSindOhanaI attended Southeast Dreamin’ last week. This was my fourth event in Atlanta. I cannot be sure; the dates are blurry at this point.
I presented last year and delivered a hands-on training session this year. I was scheduled to give a hands-on training long ago, but Southeast Dreamin’ got canceled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hands-on training sessions make this event very unique. There are things you cannot do in a 20 min or a 40 min session. Sometimes you need 1.5 – 2 hours to teach a topic in a certain way.
I have been trying to get a session approved that does not involve the participants looking at their notebook screens the whole time. I submitted a session proposal on Diagraming/Mapping last year, but it was not approved. I delivered a different version of that session at Florida Dreamin’: It could not be very interactive due to its limited duration (40 minutes).
Before this year, Southeast Dreamin’ was held at another hotel; this year it was moved to the Georgia Tech Conference Center and Hotel. I liked the location a lot. The hotel was good, and the area was pleasant for walking in. The expo room was suboptimal, but I will leave that to the sponsors to evaluate.
Architect Flow Solutions Session
I delivered a session titled Architect Flow Solutions, which had about 25 participants. I divided them into four subgroups, brought large Post-its, flip-chart paper, and markers and gave them scenarios and 20 minutes to talk with their team to design their solutions. They had approx. 3 minutes to present to the other groups. I prepared four scenarios but did not expect us to go through all of them. We completed two scenarios. It was a very interactive session. We debated the advantages and disadvantages of each solution without passing judgment.
Group 2 SolutioningI truly enjoyed delivering this session. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Participants said they wanted more; they wanted longer.
Group 3 DiagrammingI am torn on whether I should attempt this on Zoom with breakout rooms because we need to be in one room to do this best. What do you think?
Group 4 PresentingResult
I prepared a one-minute-long YouTube Short with the little clips I recorded in the session. I showed it to my daughter, and she said, “Where is the punchline?” Anyway, here it is if you want to see it:

Next, I have Midwest Dreamin’ coming in August: I will deliver a session titled Sometimes Later is Better; Async and Scheduled Flows.
I thank all Dreamin’ organizers, sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and participants.
