I'm fascinated by these fan ports of games to the #Dreamcast, especially the N64 ports. But the disc I burned for Star Fox 64 is just full of really obnoxious visual artifacts right from the start and I'm thinking something must have gone wrong in the cdi build process. I just have no idea what.
Old school gamers, I’m genuinely curious as to what your opinion is on this.
What was the number 1 factor that lead to the Dreamcast’s commercial failure?
If you don’t see your reason listed, feel free to comment.
| Ease of game piracy | |
| PlayStation 2 | |
| SEGA’s previous consoles’ commercial failures | |
| Lack of RPGs |

Bought from Nakano Broadway in Tokyo in 2012, this is a special limited edition Dreamcast made using parts repurposed from arcade machines. I've included a RGB - VGA switcher in place of the original video cable, and two memory cards. Tested 16 Jun 2026. This is a Japanese console so it's NTSC, and requires a transformer to be used safely in places with 240V. I tested with a 200W voltage converter.
