But In high school my favorite person told me that I should attend a drama club meeting, and I listened. It was my favorite thing that I had ever done. The people. The laughs. The donuts. I, for the first time, felt like I belonged somewhere. I am not a particularly violent person. But In the auditorium, my favorite place, I wrapped my hand around the arm of someone who was not my favorite person, and together we played rock, paper, scissors. Whoever lost got smacked on their arm, hard. I am not a superhero. But When I saw the person who was not my favorite person wrap his hand around the neck of the person who was my favorite person, I teleported. Within seconds we had our hands around each other’s throats, ready to bring this high school musical to an early climax. When my favorite people in the world pulled us apart I took my places, slowed my heart, and danced without missing a beat. After the curtain my favorite person was angry at me. Because, apparently, I had no right to save them. I am not a superhero. I am not a violent person. I am not an outgoing person. I was invited to a drama school today where the 11th grade class created a play based on one of my folktales. They wrote songs and fleshed out the characters and generally had tons of fun.

I love theater kids so much. ❤
