Ja, da schmeckt man die ganze Eiche.

Das Malz wird über Eichenholz getrocknet, was dem Bier eine #whisky Note gibt. Schon fast torfig.
Mit 8% Alkoholgehalt ist der #Doppelbock mit Vorsicht zu genießen.

Vorbei der Genuss wohl nur Freunden des Besonderen vorbehalten bleibt.

Bamberger #rauchbier mag ich, das hier ist seltsam.

The clear, mahogany beer is darker than it looks in the pictures, and the off-white head isn't as overwhelming after a bit.

Another beer that (like a Blonde Stout) provides a shock when poured into a glass, and another shock when you take a sip: Abita's Helles Doppelbock. It does taste exactly like you'd guess from the name, though: sharp, bubbly, and clean like a helles, but caramel malty like a doppelbock. I like it, but from the reviews on Beer Advocate is appears to not be everyone's cup of tea. Or beer.

For #NationalLagerDay, I've opened up a bottle of Barrel Aged Standhope #Doppelbock from #SawtoothBrewery of Idaho. There's a lot going on in this beer, which was aged in Pinot noir whiskey barrels, and is 8% alcohol by volume. Cheers!
