I had a very interesting thought about two prime (and opposite) examples of the most powerful form of misinformation in the information age, incomplete information. And I wanted to share it here as a very interesting idea.
The first one is the whole "Dems hands are tied" speech from Hakeem Jeffries. While I'm not his biggest fan I saw the whole speech after that clip, he said they are gonna do what they can and work on compromise "if" it actually helps the American people. And yet "purity-politics" folks on the left just took the first part and clipped it a million times over and said "DEMS COOKED LOL". With the incomplete information, it makes the efforts of liberals on the ground, making the calls to my federal reps, posting pictures around and trying to connect to community (like myself) seem useless. Which is patently untrue.
The second, ironically, is where #Doomald found out about Tariffs, from president William McKinley. Now McKinley was no saint, but when he proposed Tariffs, they worked... for a very different reason. See due to booms in manufacturing, (and rampant corruption brought on by the end of the gilded age) , the U.S. was actually running a surplus. It had more money than it owed, which is actually a huge problem. So increased tariffs were the Republicans idea to lower the surplus, and it worked, and did help grow the American economy that was recovering from the gilded age. The problem, McKinley' presidency ended in 1901, 124 years ago.
