In 1976 Joni Mitchell—one of the greatest ever who started out as a folk musician, but early on embarked on journeys through various musical genres—performed with a jazz band comprising guitarist Pat Metheny, keyboardist Lyle Mays, bassist Jaco Pastorius, saxophonist Michael Brecker, and drummer/percussionist Don Alias.

The show was recorded and released as a double LP and film with the title “Shadows and Light”; here’s the first song after the intro, “In France They Kiss on Main Street”:
