#China is an authoritarian, surveillance state ruled by a one powerful man. That said, the Chinese Communist Party under Xi’s leadership seems to legit try to do its best for the country and people. There are glaring empire tendencies on the downside - thinking of Tibet, Taiwan and the Uyghurs - but on the upside the government/party has lifted a ton of people out of poverty and propelled the country into global tech, automotive, economic and alternative energy leadership roles. Most recently, Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday called for mobilizing the whole society to actively participate in afforestation, stressing that a sound ecological environment is shared by all and requires the joint efforts of all. Just sayin… Beats the crap outta paying a billion taxpayer dollars to remove US wind energy installations already underway and approving clear cutting of old-growth forests. #environment #DomesticPolicy
