I want to have my own domain name for my email and my #BearBlog. Yet the world of web hosting and domain names is totally alien to me.
My main confusion is about what I actually need to make this work:
Do I actually need to purchase web hosting? With GBs and stuff? Or do I just need domain registration?
Any help is appreciated!

If you see a cheap deal on .xyz domain names and are thinking about getting one for your email, maybe think again. There are a few websites and email systems, not a lot but some, that don't like .xyz addresses. Email systems that will bounce email from a .xyz address, websites that won't let you register with a .xyz address. "Because .xyz addresses are mostly spammers" they say, as if that were an excuse for not doing a better job blocking spam, but they're not going to listen to that. Might as well just accept that it sucks and go for a different TLD.
