my main problem with doll vendors is a lot of them list things for sale as being equally suitable for 1/4 side (aka MSD) dolls AND for 1/3 size (aka SD) - when they are very much NOT.
1/4: MSD range from 40 -40cm tall
1/3: SD range from 50 - 70 (ish) cm tall
Accessories designed to be held by 1/4 scale looks very weird in 1/3 hands and 1/3 clothes swamp 1/4 bodies!
It's confusing infuriating !
I say this as a Doll Collector, but the Kewpie Mayonaisse Baby Dolls are ~ Peak Nightmare Fuel ~.
I say this as a Doll Person
Doll People are WEIRD Y'ALL !
Sometimes the Weird is Hella Cool.. and sometimes .. Not.
Yup.
So we all know I’ve jumped on the Blythe doll hobby and I finally started sewing as opposed to buying cheap dolls and reworking/repurposing their clothes 😅 so here are two that I finished - one with a sculpted face/full repaint; and another one, clothes only, still kind of WIP!
Doll collecting has lead me to lowkey become a bit of a Monster High stan, and now my interest in them is breaking doll containment…

Seriously, if you're interested in starting to collect dolls, this video lays it all out so well. He focuses on fashion dolls, but a lot of it is really relevant for all types of dolls and he really hits the most important points.
