It’s raining like crazy. Had a severe thunderstorm warning for a long while. Toby and I have been holed up in the car because of 70MPH wind gusts and lots of lightning.
On the plus side, my new tent (this is my second trip with it and first storm) seems to be holding up well only the slightest leak and that’s on me—didn’t have the fly tight enough on one corner. Toby and I got drenched checking it, but looks like I had less than a tablespoon in the tent. It’s a Mountain Hardware Mineral King 3—I would definitely recommend it for this reason, but also the exact opposite: starry nights.
#Camping with Toby for a couple of days just the two of us before my friends show up on Sunday. Really nice to take an extended trip like this.
It’s going to be really hot today, so I got Toby a cooling jacket and mat.
He’s pretty tuckered out after a day of hiking and fighting off flies.
Heading out shortly for some solo camping—just Toby and I. Excited to get away and have some quiet time to myself to hike, journal, read—and of course spend some quality time with Toby.
I booked a site last minute with Hipcamp—it was my first time using it. It feels like Airbnb, but for campsites. UX is a little clunky, but was super easy overall and affordable.
When I get back, I've got a cookout to do and one to visit. What're you getting into for #MemorialDay?
