This morning I realized why the #OSR community in D&D is thriving so much: D&D 5e is like playing on Story mode.

In that sense, 5e isn't bad; it's just not fulfilling for people who want more challenge.

6th Dungeon of the Mad Mage session of 2026.

We continue to explore the (optional DM’s Guild) treasure vault, which appears to be packed with various types of undead.

My 10th level character nearly died in an encounter with 14(!) wights. Whatever treasure awaits us had better be worth it, or we’ll probably just skip future vaults. The encounters have been significantly harder.
