It's time for the twice-annual groaning about the time change with #DaylightSavingTime ending for the year in the US & Canada Sunday morning, November 2. A way we can resist/rebel is to develop software so our own computers + devices can opt-out of DST, and still interact with those required to use it. See my LongitudeTZ project on GitHub. Lots to do but it won't get anywhere without supporters. https://github.com/ikluft/LongitudeTZ #OpenSource #software #tech #PermanentStandardTime #DitchTheSwitch #DitchDST

"Oregon Senate passes bill for permanent standard time... or possibly permanent daylight saving time" by KGW News (NBC Portland) - After #SB1038 passage in the #Oregon Senate, it will be up for a vote in the House. If passed by House and signed by governor, Oregon would go along if both CA & WA #DitchTheSwitch too within 10 years. https://www.kgw.com/article/news/politics/oregon-senate-passes-bill-end-daylight-saving-time-switch/283-1e33b479-450f-4381-9dec-700ac409d308 #PNW

I watched as #Oregon SB566 #PermanentStandardTime bill apparently died. I didn't realize it was replaced by #SB1038 until that passed the Senate today. On to the House.

The new bill is weird. It'll go along with permanent Standard or Daylight time as long as both CA & WA adopt same in 10 years. Permanent DST would require an act of Congress first, since states aren't allowed to choose it. Excludes Mountain Time portion of Oregon in Malheur County. https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2025R1/Measures/Overview/SB1038 #DitchTheSwitch #PNW

Texas: New: SB 516 seeks illegal, unsafe, permanent Daylight Saving Time. Filed by Senator Mayes Middleton (R-Galveston), who previously sponsored bills seeking pDST and bills seeking legal, safe, permanent Standard Time. Permanent DST would put TX sunrise past 8am 3–5 months, later even then 9am! When last tried, it cost lives and business, and Texans rejected it. Please urge him and your own state legislators to #DitchTheSwitch the quick, safe, and lasting way, with permanent Standard Time, not permanent DST! #DitchDST #TXLeg #MAHA
Or tell your TX state legislators to file the suggested bill from our website, which can #DitchTheSwitch by end of next year or after another state agrees to join TX in ditching DST with permanent Standard Time! https://savestandardtime.com/legislation/?j=tx
DRAFT LEGISLATION TO DITCH DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME | Save Standard Time

Abolish Daylight Saving Time and restore permanent Standard Time.

Please tell your Texas state legislators to sponsor Senator Judith Zaffirini’s SB 64, which is the only bill filed so far in Texas that can #DitchTheSwitch by the end of 2025! https://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=89R&Bill=SB64
