#Gorguts Pleiades Dust - a 30min+ #ProgDeath #DissoDeath song - what more do you want? Yet more cinematic and atmospheric than the Colored Sands album (which is my favorite of theirs) and great album/song. Also again really interesting theme with the House of Wisdom (I'll post wiki article into the thread)

It seems as I grow older I get more fond of #DissonantDeathMetal ... I was always into proggy and techy death metal, but disso used to miss me. It has a lot of interesting subtlety and actually beautiful (dis)harmonies and I feel like I get a whole new appreciation for what DeathMetal can be through it
Drawing another line from #DissoDeath to #Jazz IMO voice leading is really enlightening when looking at some disso death stuff. When you have a chord progression of ugly nonsense that was picked out by ear, voice leading still often is still the one concept that is clearly at play and I find it really helpful when making chord progressions that don't follow functional harmony.
And for me the greatest intro to voice leading is the 8-bit music theory video on the Wii shop theme
