"Yesterday, I pleaded not guilty to the charges that Trump’s DOJ has hit me with in federal court.
This administration is targeting me because they can see that I’ve spoken out against them and will continue to stand up to them."

This #dissent written by #JusticeJackson about the government's new #PassportPolicy is a good read. The majority just decided to grant a stay, allowing the government to enforce these new policies. Dissenters argue that such a stay offends the principles of equity and highlight how weighing equity is a central part of "the [court's] assignment" in cases like this.

@Nonilex This is a shocking result. We can now fully expect a wave of sandwich-throwing violence to result now that resistors have found that they can expect no consequences.

Waiting for lawmakers to impose a seven-day waiting period and ID verification for any deli purchases.

Man who threw sandwich at federal agent is found not guilty of assault

A former Justice Department employee who threw a sandwich at a federal agent during President Donald Trump’s law enforcement surge in Washington has been found not guilty of assault. A viral video of the incident made Sean Charles Dunn a symbol of resistance to Trump’s deployment of federal agents to combat crime in the nation’s capital. Dunn's misdemeanor acquittal Thursday is another setback for prosecutors who've faced a backlash for how they've handled criminal cases resulting from the surge. Dunn says he's relieved and looking forward to moving on with his life. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro is accepting the verdict but says “law enforcement should never be subjected to assault.”

A new model is used to explore the relationship between dissent and self-censorship under varying authoritarian policies. "...the probability and time for an initially moderate, locally-adaptive authority to suppress dissent depend critically on the population's willingness to withstand punishment early on, which can deter the authority from adopting more extreme policies."
