@datum thank you that was SO INTERESTING!! And the part that pisses me off is that if I needed to prove to Social Security for example that the letter I needed to respond to you within 10 days of them mailing it didn’t actually reach me in 10 days, would I be able to access this data to prove what day that mail got to me? Unlikely. And even if I could prove I didn’t get the mail in time I’m not sure if that would change the requirement for me to respond within a certain amount of time or if I will just be shit out of luck because that’s usually how that works.
But thank you for sending this to me! I still have the screenshot of the email where they sent me a photo of another man’s medical mail, I’m going to figure out how to send that to the dem senators who are trying to get this stopped/changed.
Also this part, not according to my state’s MMJ program:
“The USPS (quite reasonably) points out there’s no expectation of privacy in the information contained on the outside of mail. And that’s an understandable position to take… to a certain extent.”
The medical cannabis program here decided that they can all use our information for marketing purposes but if any of the Weed stores mail us anything it CANNOT have the dispensary name on it, it CANNOT reveal that we are medical cannabis patients. And last year #Santuary in #NH sent out a coupon flat that indicated they hadn’t seen me at that weed store in awhile (I have never been) and I was furious. I complained to the program they told me that sanctuary claimed it was a printer error, I explained this is exactly why our medical information should never be used for marketing purposes.
And now the federal government knows I have a Weed Card because that mail got scanned with everybody else’s mail.
I wonder if it’s too late to sue them for a #HIPAA violation. I wonder if I have to show actual damages, I think this morning I’m going to inquire about that because I’m mad now. I’m also going to send this article to the guy who runs the cannabis program so he understands what sanctuary did to all of us with their “printer error”.
