Last week was the DisObey conference in Helsinki. It's getting bigger and cooler from year to year. It's always so nice to meet old friends and get to know new people. I think I hugged around 100 people :)

As usual, I was volunteering, and this year marked my 7th time. I missed only the first DisObey, which was in 2016.

And I gave a talk about infostealers, the only topic I am a bit familiar with. One of the speakers got sick, and on Thursday afternoon, I was asked whether I'd like to go on stage. I had semi-ready slides. Funnily enough, my volunteering shift was just on the backstage as a speakers' runner.

Thoughts after #Disobey2025: Very well organised, an opening session that struck all the right chords with me, lots of cool people, good talks ... but a certain lack of living up to their/our own credos of decentralisation and avoiding evil: No fediverse presence (mostly X/Meta/bsky/Discord - but honorable mention to IRC!), email MX -> google.com (so my emails are unlikely to reach the organisers, since Big G hates Little MXes), and a feedback form using Google Docs ..?

All that said - loved my time there, and can't wait for the next one!
