Last weekend the #dishwasher needed #repair Not a huge issue, a buildup of gunk was just enough to let a little water past a seal and into the sump at the bottom. A much bigger issue was the fact that the screws to mount the plastic faceplate go into some particularly flimsy mounting points, several of which snapped off. The cynic in me thinks this is an attempt to discourage/frustrate those repairing their own machines. I was able to stick most of them back in place and reinforce with some epoxy, but I still think appliance makers should do better.

My new dishwasher is the dishwasher of Theseus. (ETA: new as in "new to me." Not new from the store.)

I'm not even kidding.

The lock was busted. So they replaced the lock.

Now the drain pump is burned out. So they are going to replace it.

They are also going to replace the control board while they are at it.

So will this dishwasher be the same dishwasher as when I got the apartment, or will it be different?

A philosophical question for the ages.

If you’re at all curious, here’s the problem. I’m thinking maybe if I run the dishwasher and get the rack hot it’ll be a little more malleable and I can snap it back into place. In the meantime, I’m thinking an LG is probably a bad idea. #Dishwasher
