The way I have Google Search set up, I can search "disregard" with no problems (for now)
merriam-webster.com, cambridge.org, cornell.edu are the top 3 results

Problems out of scope for the first web must necessarily be in-scope for #TheNextWeb/#SocialWeb:
Privacy and Security #privsec
Search
Data & hosting
publishing code
switching browsers
Disintermediation (#WWW must be its own platform, must facilitate/obviate brokering)
all of the above, in other words: #Disenshittification
#Versioning (#DVCS) & #Archiving & #Publishing
Navigation of semantic adjacency in terms of a hyperspatial manifold. (got a term for this?)
Here's my #Disenshittification journey so far:
Twitter > Mastodon & Bluesky
Instagram > PixelFed
Spotify > SoundCloud
Amazon Prime > host giveaway events, thrift, shop at fam owned
Diff browsers > Waterfox
G Maps > OrganicMaps
Gmail > Proton
Google Cloud > Local harddrive
I deleted a lot of digital stuff, files etc. Installing the Material file manager on my Xiaomi/Android phone was a BIG upgrade there.
Tried to get Fdroid or Aurora, but they don't show in my Google Play..?
Current state of my personal #Disenshittification journey. Completed: Twitter -> Mastodon Instagram -> PixelFed Amazon Prime -> shopping locally or direct from manufacturer Amazon Kindle -> Libby / Hoopla Amazon Audible -> Libby / Hoopla Goodreads -> Bookwyrm Google Search -> DuckDuckGo Google Maps -> OrganicMaps / OpenStreetMap Google Keep Notes -> Markor & Tasks ( from #fdroid ) GitHub -> CodeBerg Gillette -> Standard razor shaver (Albatros) Gmail -> FastMail Next: Google Cloud backup -> Immich Stock Android -> Graphene

This week in #disenshittification :
Finally cut the Gmail cord and moved to #fastmail
Took a few hours of futzing with DNS settings at my registrar, getting to know #thunderbird , and figuring out what to use for calendar because unlike on the dektop #Thunderbird doesn't include the calendar on #android .
Eventually landed on #Etar synced to #fastmail via #DAVx .Setup was quite smooth. Really the biggest time sink was in deciding what to use.
This was one of the big steps towards liberating myself from Google's clutches. I'm very glad it's done.
