RodolfoI was a kid in #Chicago when Steve Dahl’s “Disco Demolition Night” went down. Seen through a tiny TV on the nightly news, the hatred —and who was hated— was still obvious and worrying. Even before then, people had used racist and homophobic slurs to refer to this music. Joke’s on the haters though. #Disco —> Chicago House —> nearly half the stuff people groove to these days. 🪩

I think Ward's failure to have another hit was a consequence of the late seventies /early eighties antidisco movement. I'd like to read more about the origins and significance of that movement.
