Happy Labor Day to all my fellow disabled citizens. Once again, bend over.

A year ago today, it looked like there was hope that things might change, but as you know the world has gone to total shit in the last year, including efforts to finally end wage exploitation of disabled Americans; it looks like there is no relief in sight.

Before they killed the proposed amendment, did the Education and Workforce Committee consider or research the 10+ states that have made 14(c) certificate slave exploitation of individuals with disabilities illegal and what the impact of that was? They should have looked into that before they just dropped such a proposal.

According to the rules – Section 14(c) of the US Department of Labor's "Fair" Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938 to be exact:

It's perfectly legal to pay hundreds of thousands of employees with disabilities as little as two dollars an hour, as long as you obtain a certificate from the federal government.

Sorry to say, this is not a joke. It's a disgusting practice that, "according to the rules", makes it okay for companies to exploit people with invisible disabilities.
