The harm to children is particularly clear in the revival and expansion of family detention at Dilley, where Amalia and more than 5,000 other children and parents have been held during the past year. A recent report by Human Rights First and RAICES—two major nonprofits working on immigrants’ rights—documents widespread medical neglect of children, including infants, in the care of CoreCivic, the private contractor that operates Dilley, which reported more than $2 billion in total revenue last year. Good:💙⚡"2-yr-old Kaleth & his mom are home. During his time at the #Dilley trailer prison, Kaleth was sick—could't eat the food from CoreCivic: vomiting, & ran a fever while detained. He'd trouble sleeping & missed his Dad. He/mother: asylum seekers & never missed an #ICE check-in. Did everything right➡️still imprisoned. I'm grateful Kaleth is back home but this trauma can't be undone. Keep using your voices so more children can be free/safe. We won’t stop..."
