Solar.
As I start outfitting the Jeep for off-roading or overlanding, I decided one of the foundational pieces of equipment I needed was a solid power source. Enter the Jackery 500 and a Jackery SolarSaga 100 Air.
This battery system has output for 12VDC, USB-A, and 110VAC. It can be charged with household current, 12VDC (off the Jeep’s lighter port), or by aftermentioned SolarSaga 100 Air.
Having a reliable power source in remote areas is important to me. I can charge a dead battery, run a portable air compressor, plus of course charge any electronics I may bring along. With my intention to start working remotely more often, this is a crucial cornerstone of my envisioned digital nomad existence.
When the solar panels arrived yesterday I started charging the battery with late afternoon sun. The battery charged 10% in about an hour, and the input was measured to be around 30W. Not bad for the late afternoon.
I continue to be excited about being a Jeep owner again, and the possibilities this has unlocked for us here in the desert southwest.
