Borders no longer live only on maps. They are encoded in routing tables, DNS responses, certificate authorities, and platform rules. The same request can be routed differently, blocked quietly, or resolved by alternate authorities depending on where it originates. The network follows the protocol perfectly, even as the world it connects fractures.

Traffic flows, handshakes complete, and connections succeed while invisible checkpoints dictate what is reachable. The internet is quietly splitting into archipelagos, each governed by unseen rules, and no one told the packets they needed permission to cross. Welcome to the splinternet.

Oh great, another pretentious dive into the "inspirations" behind a show about choosing-your-own-adventure in a digital dystopia. 🎮✨ Because clearly, we couldn't figure out that Black Mirror was inspired by... wait for it... technology! 🙄🔍

Unplugging from the Electric Tomb: A Humane-Tech Interpretation of Greta Van Fleet's "Age of Machine"

Introduction: The Dystopia is Now Greta Van Fleet’s "Age of Machine" isn’t just a hard rock anthem—it’s a chilling, poetic mirror reflecting our profound digital dependence and systemic exploitation. #PennedPossibilities 796 — Have you had to cut anything significant from your WIP? (Either for plot, cleanliness, redundancy, over explanation, or pace and literary effect.)

Yes, I have. I’ve had to focus on smaller-scale cutting: certain sentences, phrases, words, etc. What an enormous sharpening effect judicious cutting has had on the story, and hopefully on the readers as well. And also, like the prompt suggests, I made changes for redundancy, plot, over explanation, cleanliness, pace and literary effect. It cleaned things up quite a bit, and I’ve been feeling rather proud of the finished product (for now). It made a huge difference.

I’ve been working on that for #TheCityOfOpulence as well, a part of the #DigitalDystopia series. Nothing *gigantic* for the plot has been changed, though.
