Donald RoySir Ian Diamond has resigned as National Statistician - in charge of #ons . He had a mixed record in the job. He did well to get an infection survey undertaken during #COVID19 although unfortunately #didoharding ignored the results for #london - a neglect which increased mortality there. He also did a good job protecting the #2021census . Unfortunately he proved either unable or unwilling to prevent a search for 'efficiency savings' undermining the quality and reliability of many #ukstatistics!
One has to hope that #alanmilburn will not become the #didoharding of the current #ukgovernment - a decorative but expensive albatross round the neck of the #nhs !
