🔹 So in Mao's (early) time. One contradiction is China's feudalist society, where the masses, the farmers, are opposed to the bourgeois class, the landowners. However, after losing the first Sino-Japanese war, there is also a contradiction between Chinese nationalism and Japanese imperialism. In this case, Mao argues that the principle contradiction is "against imperialism", and that the feudalist contradiction becomes secondary. Hence, Mao said that the communist party should form a coalition with the Kuomintang (Chinese nationalist party), against the Japanese (during the second Sino-Japanese war).

🔹So to recap: the Chinese communists are against the Kuomintang, but this contradiction becomes secondary when Japan invades China, then the communists and the Kuomintang are united in the principle contradiction against imperialism.

Mao and dialectical materialism.

This was very theoretical at first.

🔹Every process, every development is caused by an internal contradiction. External factors exist but they are never crucial for a process. Contradictions are the basis of motions and processes. Each process and each contradiction need their own method, the analysis needs to be qualitative.

🔹 There is always a principle contradiction. The one central necessary contradiction to be identified, plus how it interacts with other contradictions.
There is also always one principle aspect, which the aspect of the contradiction that is currently dominating. This determines the (current) nature of things.

🔹 Within a principle contradiction there can be a secondary contradiction. The opponents of the secondary contradiction are united in the primary contradiction.

I would recommend all our friends that have a genuine interest to understand what the hell is going one right now to looking into #dialecticalmaterialism and get a grasp of #politicaleconomy

If you do not understand those words, no worry. Dialectical materialism is a Marxist term for the concept that everything changes through the constant movement and struggle between opposing aspects determine a thing.

External factors affect this internal struggle but cannot transform the thing itself. Conditioned by external factors embedded within a broader system of contradictions, this internal process drives all developments in our material reality.

Looking at how we produce things in that way is called political economy and helps to understand capitalism in detail.

@ambiguous_yelp @sashin I half-jokingly came up with Charles' Law because it's one of the Gas Laws and the OP used the metaphor of a soda bottle. But yes, while contradictions are central to #DialecticalMaterialism, it's not quite so deterministic to predict an equal and opposite reaction.
It's hard to say what the opposite reaction to say Trump's involvement with Epstein would even be, isn't it? But we can say that the contradiction between the Epstein clique and the MAGA folks who thought everyone *else* but the Dear Leader was a danger to Our Children™ will be one thing that helps undo the movement unless Trump manages to whip up a major war frenzy. Whether what follows will be better or worse remains to be seen.
