It’s 3:30 am and I’ve just finished recording the guitar track for a tune that wandered into my head at 1:30 am.

Melodies often visit in the middle of the night just before I drift off to sleep, but I’ve never been able to remember them when I wake up. I got this one though, and I like how it sounds.

I hope it still sounds good in the morning.

• Radio Shack TRS-80 Pocket Computer
• Nokia 3310 (Blue)
• iPhone 4S

• iPhone 12

This is a complete list of every mobile device I’ve ever owned.

#Dgar has never broken a screen, despite once accidentally kicking the Nokia off an eighth-floor balcony into a car park.

Fortunately, the car park was undamaged, and the Nokia was, of course, fine.

I bought Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition retail on the day of release.

Two weeks later, I ordered a Mac.

I took the video on the way home from work. These are pretty-faced wallabies, or whip-tailed wallabies. They often hang out around my driveway.

On November 30, 2022, I tooted for the first time on Mastodon.

“Hello world!”

Then I began tooting my #music and a ton of #puns #jokes, and #memes. Everyone here responded so genuinely, and with such positivity, that I was very quickly made to feel at home.

My deepest gratitude goes out to the #Mastodon community, a #community that has literally improved the quality of my time on this spinning rock as it hurtles through space, towards a future that seems more uncertain every day. You have been my friends, my therapists, my critics and fans, as well as an inspiration and reliable sounding board. Mastodon really is unlike any other “social media platform” out there.

Today, I celebrate the arbitrary milestone of twelve thousand followers, and I wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for the favourites, the boosts, the follows, and the comments.

Thank you for your conversations, discussions, and corrections.

Thank you for listening to my music and sharing your thoughts, and for following along on your chosen streaming service. Your support has been amazing.

But, above all, I’d like to thank you all for making Mastodon the friendly and welcoming place that it is. My experience here has predominantly been one of acceptance and support, and it has been truly humbling. There is nowhere else quite like it.

Massive huge love and big gigantic hugs to you all,

- Jon

Song writing can be a bit of a process sometimes. How a song is first written and the forms it takes as it's being worked on can be a far cry from where it ends up. Here's an example I stumbled upon while looking for something else in the D'gar archives; the first recording of a new song that I had just written to present to the couple of guys that I would often collaborate with.

Presenting: It's Always Monday On The Moon, first recording, from New Years Day, 2021.

If you haven't heard the released version yet, you can listen to the Single version of It's Always Monday On The Moon, by Dgar, on my Bandcamp or wherever you prefer to stream your music.
