York-Fabian Raabe – „Borga“ (2021)

(ARTE, Wh.)

York-Fabian Raabe, Eugene Boateng, Christiane Paul – „Borga“ (2021)

(ARD, Neu)

Devrim Lingnau & Philip Froissant stars of The Empress talk auditions, challenges, funny moments, the finale, and season two

Listen to this episode from Silence on Set on Spotify. One of the hottest new shows on Netflix is The Empress, a German show that shows you the real-life portrayals (with some dramatization) of Elisabeth and Emperor Franz. The show details how the two meet and fall in love. Of course, when you depict royalty and court -- one can expect drama, backstabbing, and power struggles. This show quietly aired with six episodes for season one and was quickly renewed for a season two. While details have been relatively quiet, two of its main stars, Devrim Lingnau (Elisabeth) & Philip Froissant (Emperor Franz), were able to meet with me from different parts of the world to talk about their initial reactions to being cast; the complexities of their characters, the pressure of playing "real" people, and some of the fantastic but heavy costumes. We spoke about everything, including dissecting some of my favorite scenes, the quiet moments between the two, the misbehaving, and of course, those final moments in the finale and how that one scene impacts everything heading into season two.  Host: Monica Gleberman Editor: Polina Jdanova Social Media Graphic: Jojo -- Synopsis: When rebellious Elisabeth falls for Emperor Franz and becomes his unlikely bride, she enters a world of tensions and intrigue at the Viennese court. The Empress season one can be streamed now on Netflix. Netflix has yet to announce when season two will be available.  Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @SilenceonSet and Instagram @SilenceonSetPod
