#LOCARNO78. #LinijeZelje (#DesireLines) nos habla sobre identidad, memoria y sexualidad con un lenguaje tan críptico y experimental que es fácil perderse en sus contemplativas imágenes.

A ★★★★★ review of Desire Lines (2024)

That‘s an incredibly good film on research and perceiving history. I really liked it how smoothly perspectives, actors, layers have been melted together in an easy to watch and very fluently narrated documentary where time just flies by. It is a clever move to reenact history by paralleling a fictive story part to the filming of documents, projection of archival footage and oral history interviews, as it makes it accessible as an low-key TV history format. But it is a smart ass move, to coat that in Derrida quote that you put up front and let the audience become part

Past and present collide when an Iranian American trans man time-travels through an LGBTQ+ archive on a dizzying and erotic quest to unravel his own sexual desires.

A recent post on Twitter by Govanhill Go! reminded me of the concept of desire lines. These are unofficial paths, like the one on the right in this photo, worn into the landscape by people who would rather use them than the official routes (like the one on the left). They're generally short-cuts and often indicate a failure by urban planners to properly understand and account for people's desires as they move through their environment.

This one now almost looking like a formed path, cuts straight across the Events Centre entrance. Cyclist about to hit it. Given its not formed you have to contend with a gutter... https://spyderooth.vercel.app//quick-posts/quick-post-2024-04-20-152006/
