Well now, maybe I've got there!

I cut the latest version of Aethelflaed out of the paper she's on and tried laying her against the backgrount I'd prepared, and you know what, it might actually be working!!

I've lifted the height of the wall on one side (maybe need to drop the other a bit more) and I've added a border to her dress.

I'm still not sure what colour to do the saddlecloth, or even whether to do a saddlecloth, but that's more progress than I expected in a week when I've been distracted and not really at ease.

I think the bee skeps and barrels will end up in the border, and I'm not sure about that pile of building stone, either...

I've had another go at #Aethelflaed in her #AngloSaxon riding dress for the #AethelflaedEmbroidery.

I'm not sure I'm happy with her, but maybe another iteration or two will do it...

Good news: I am pleased with this figure, with the shadow and highlight.
Bad news: everything else displeases me, and I don't know what to do to change that.

I think I stand self-convicted of failure to have the courage of my convictions here. I've added both highlights and shadows, but now I wonder whether they are light enough and dark enough..
I may find myself doing some unpicking.
