Inlaid detail at the entrance to an 1840s townhouse on Queen's Crescent in the Woodlands area of Glasgow. I don't think this is original, and was most likely added quite a bit later, however, I'm not seen a similar design elsewhere in the city.

Love this date plaque on Colin Menzies Modern Movement warehouse on Fox Street in Glasgow. It was built in 1925 for the McCorquodales Printworks

A rather impressive ornamental crest in the opulent boardroom of J.J. Burnet's 1880s Clyde Navigation Trust building on Robertson Street in Glasgow.

Acid-etched glass often gets overlooked in favour of the more colourful stained or painted glass, but it can be just as decorative, as this example from a townhouse door on Wilton Street in the West End of Glasgow shows. Acid etching was developed in the mid-1800s and uses hexafluorosilicic acid to etch ornate patterns into panes of glass.

Art Deco style mosaic on the former British Polar Engines Works on Helen Street on the Southside of Glasgow. The company was formed in 1927 to produce a range of reliable marine diesel engines originating from a Swedish design which was used on the Fram as part of Roald Amundsen's 1906 expedition to be the first to reach the South Pole in 1911. It went into liquidation in 2022.

I love the wonderfully expressive crouching Atlantids carved by George Frampton on J.J. Burnet's 1890s Banking Hall on Ingram Street in Glasgow.

A rather beautiful metalwork lamp on Carlton Place in Glasgow. Carlton Place is Glasgow's best surviving Georgian street, but it has been neglected for many years as is in a sad state of repair.

The rather wonderful Glasgow Style railings around the 1908 former Holmlea Public School on the southside of Glasgow. This is an old photo, but I thought it was worth reposting as a follow-up to my other recent posts featuring Holmlea Public School.

Love these decorative tiles at the entrance to the 1890s former Sanitary Chambers on Montrose Street in central Glasgow. If you zoom in, the pattern on the lower tiles does rather look, to me at any rate, like a strange crested bird with wild eyes, but there's nothing wrong with that!
