Outside.

It’s a beautiful day here in Tucson. I’m taking advantage of the day before record heat sets in and enjoying a few moments during a lunch break blogging on our side patio. The roar of aircraft flying in and out of nearby Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is keeping my attention. From my vantage point I can see the base about five miles away. This make me very happy.

The breezes are nice. We have a swamp cooler out here as well, which makes this even more pleasant.

A few moments of peace in a busy day.

Capturing This Moment.

Upward.

These ocotillo are directly across our driveway from my office window. I look out at them every day and they make me smile. It’s good to find things that make us smile in 2026.

They stand about eight feet tall, so it was fun to get right down close to them to snap this photo.

I love how they’re reaching upward toward the sky in this shot. It’s inspiring.

Resolute.

This cardinal brought a smile to my face as he stood behind a neighbor’s mailbox. He held still long enough for me to grab this photo. I appreciated his resolute demeanor. It’s not easy to be resolute in a country of fluid morals that bend like branches in a small breeze.

I used the telephoto lens on my iPhone 16 Pro to grab this shot. Not bad for little staging and grabbing it in less than a couple of seconds.
