Closed Since Morning, Maybe Longer

Basai water plant, Gurugram. Shot this flat-on from the road — didn't move left or right, just stood directly in front and let the symmetry do the work. Four windows, one shutter, concrete going all the way up. The shutter has water stains running down it in streaks that almost look deliberate. Whole facade is weathered evenly, like the sun and rain hit every section the same way for years. Nobody around when I shot this. The place was running — you could hear it — but the front looked completely shut. That gap between what a building sounds like and what it looks like is something I keep noticing in industrial Gurugram. The grade in post just pulled the warmth out.

A towering cumulus formation pushes up the right half of the frame, backlit from behind with a warm olive glow that the dark slate sky on the left refuses to match. The color grading leans the whole image into a muted, almost monochromatic register — draining the expected drama of storm light into something quieter and more unsettled. There's a compressed quality to this kind of sky, where the atmosphere seems to be deciding something. Shot looking straight up, which removes any horizon reference and makes the scale harder to read — the cloud could be enormous or just close.
