I had a very productive Stream last night on Twitch.
The Derail Valley Career mode game play-thru is moving along quite nicely, and even provided some surprises.
You can watch it here on YouTube: https://youtu.be/xbXNwlTkIxk?si=v9LvN6wG5cBwO303
As I prepare for my Wednesday Streams on Twitch of my Derail Valley Simulator game play-thru, I've been working in Sandbox mode operating a diesel locomotive that I didn't utilize during my first play-thru.
The DM3, or diesel mechanical locomotive works using a gear box that must be shifted through manually, closing the throttle before adjusting the levers in two gear boxes.
I thought it was a little much, and likely put in place to support VR play, for a newbie player, and I wanted to focus on the game mechanics during my initial game.
In hindsight, this locomotive is playable in PC mode well enough that it does the job.
It is rated for 500 tons up a 2% grade, and I tested that with a 436 ton load to the Goods Factory and Town. It was slow, but I made it without stalling out on a grade or the motor and just missed the bonus by 2 minutes.
I've bought some gear to modify the displays on the locomotive, electronic speedometer and brake level and a clinometer to show what the track grades are, and a couple hooks hang up a lantern to provibe a litte more light in the cab.
I've been using the DM3 at Goods Factory for some Shunting work and to build the train for the return trip to Harbor and Town.
I'll likely make that trip in game this evening for some further familiarization.
This worked out very well and I'll likely be doing this with the two steam locomotives over the coming weeks so I can feel comfortable unlocking them and using them during my Steams over the next few months.
I...I really don't have anywhere else to share this stuff. I know this isn't so much a Journal...but I'm using it as such. I guess it's a "you do you" kinda thing.
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and wishing you a good week ahead.
