Dennis “Machine Gun” Thompson, drummer for the Motor City 5, and Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee, has died at 75.

This one hits close to home; literally and figuratively. After the MC5, Machine Gun lived modestly working a factory job in the “Downriver” area south of Detroit where I’m from.

I hung out with him one night when I was 16 because my friend Scotty’s dad had Dennis over. Below is Scotty’s autographed MC5 record.
