Senators consider deal to fund Homeland Security but not ICE enforcement
Travel disruptions have deepened as senators are racing to salvage a proposal to end the Homeland Security shutdown. Democrats have refused to fund the Department of Homeland Security unless it made changes to its immigration and deportation operations. But unpaid Transportation Security Administration workers are failing to show up for shifts and at least 458 have quit altogether. Asked about the emerging plan Tuesday, President Donald Trump says he's not happy with any deal. The deal would impose some but not all of the restraints Democrats have demanded on immigration operations. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says it's time to end the standoff.

Video of ICE arrest at San Francisco draws Democrats' anger
Video footage of federal officers detaining a crying woman at San Francisco International Airport is drawing outrage. Airport officials say Sunday's incident was not related to the Trump administration's deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to help with long lines at airports during a partial government shutdown. The Department of Homeland Security says officers arrested two people with a final order of removal dating to 2019. Democrats in city and state politics are denouncing the actions of the agents.

Senate Democrats send letter to Hegseth for more information on bombing of Iran girls' school
Almost all Senate Democrats, and the two independent lawmakers who caucus with the party, sent a letter to Pete Hegseth demanding answers to more questions about the bombing of an Iranian girls’ school that killed at least 175 people.
All but one Democratic lawmaker – senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania – signed the letter, after the New York Times reported that a preliminary investigation shows the US is to blame for the strikes near a naval base in Minab.
