Dehumidifiers, AC units and heat pumps.
Dehumidifiers, AC units and heat pumps.

Week 11 saw the painting mostly finished up and electrical trim out on Monday and Tuesday, and yesterday and today the HVAC guys did their finishing work.
Here’s how things look now.

With our basement work, we no longer need the plug-in dehumidifier we’ve had there. Incredibly, Georgia Power will pick up dehumidifiers for free which saves me all the headaches of trying to dispose of an appliance with coolant!

This past week saw new windows, a whole house dehumidifier, floor leveling, and inspections.
I’m taking end-of-week photos of each room now instead of the whole basement.

Basement project week 4 day 3. Most visible change is the whole-house dehumidifier. Its position narrows the path to the crawl space but keeps the utility space open. They also worked on framing out around the windows.

"There have been more than 2,000 reported incidents of these #recalled #dehumidifiers overheating. About 450 fires have been reported, resulting in more than $19 million in property damage.”
"20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 70-pint dehumidifiers manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, of China with brand names Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima.”
This isn’t clickbait: the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has repeatedly recalled millions of dehumidifiers from one company — and yet four more people have died in fires likely caused by the faulty machines. Problem is, these appliances were sold under 13 other names, including big labels like Frigidaire, GE, and Kenmore. So look at these images. If you see a match, get your refund and get it out of your house STAT.
1.5 million #dehumidifiers recalled over #FireRisk
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall impacts 42 models of dehumidifiers with the brand names #Kenmore, #GE, #SoleusAir, #Norpole and #Seabreeze. They were manufactured between January 2011 and February 2014. Approximately 1,560,000 units are impacted by the recall.
The CPSC says there have been 688 incidents of overheating and $168,000 in property damage connected to the dehumidifiers.

Just set #HomeAssistant (#MelCloud integration) to always generate heat in the heat pump water cylinder instead of exporting excess #electrical #energy to the #grid.
I'm up to using about 20Kw(and battery storage) now to avoid feeding back into the grid..
Usage breakdown:
* #Heatpump / Water (10k)
* #ev (3k)
* #Dehumidifiers (3k)
* #HotTub (4k)
I want the grid to be full of #green energy but at the price point they are willing to pay me it's more cost effective to use it locally.
