Pashinyan and Aliyev agree to meet

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have agreed to meet in Brussels on December 15. The meeting, which will take place during the EU's Eastern Partnership Summit, was agreed upon following a telephone conversations with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

The news was announced in a statement issued by Michel's office on Friday.

"The leaders agreed to meet in Brussels to discuss the regional situation, and ways to overcome tensions for a prosperous, stable South Caucasus, which is supported by the EU," the statement reads.

During the telephone conversations, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to establish a direct line of communication through their respective defense ministers, which will serve as a mechanism for preventing incidents.

Following my phone calls with @presidentaz and @NikolPashinyan a meeting will take place in December in Brussels in the margins of EAP summit.
