So, for the third time this year, Trump has been played by #DeathTsar Vladimir #Putin. This seems to be becoming something of a pattern: Trump gets ‘tough’, Putin extends vague promises of peace talks, Trump backs down and Putin continues bombing Ukraine as usual.

Trump’s craven actions will not stop the #TerroristState #Russia any more than the UK’s appeasement of Adolf Hitler in the 1930s stopped Nazi Germany.

So, President #Trump has moved the goalposts. Instead of dithering again about applying ’severe’ sanctions, he has changed the rules and made sanctions conditional on what the Europeans do. The effect is the same, he has kicked the can down the road, anything to avoid imposing sanctions on bestie, #DeathTsar Vladimir #Putin.

Trump continues to behave like a craven coward. If he had imposed sanctions earlier this year like he said he would, Russia could be on its knees by now. By appeasing Putin, he is making a major conflagration more likely. If he had paid more attention to 1930s history at high school, he would know this.

Instead of adopting this obnoxious attitude with human rights groups, maybe the US could impose sanctions on actual war criminals.

When is Trump going to impose the ‘severe’ sanctions on Vladimir #DeathTsar Putin he keeps boasting about? Oh! He isn’t, even after being taken for a fool by #Putin for the second time this year. For all his bluff and bluster, #Trump is a craven coward who sees nothing wrong with red-carpeting a mass murderer.

So President #Trump says negotiating a permanent peace agreement is the best way to end the war in Ukraine, rather than seek a temporary ceasefire.

Has he asked Ukraine? He appears to have given #DeathTsar Vladimir #Putin a free pass to carry on bombing Ukrainian civilians whilst the details of the peace deal are sorted out. (Whenever that will be.)

After standing idly by whilst Israel’s genocide continues, looking on as Gazans slowly starve to death and the IDF dynamites and bulldozes any buildings and infrastructure that have so far escaped the war, how will we in the (apparently democratic) West look #DeathTsar Vladimir Putin in the eye when his time comes to face justice in The Hague and say “you are guilty of genocide”?

The soldier-on-civilian murders in Bucha, the devastated cities of Mariupol and Popasana, the stolen children - how do we in the West suppose that we have the moral authority to prosecute these crimes when we appear to tolerate them in our supposed ‘allies’?
