Death Literacy Barbie rides again!

Thank you ACAP Navitas in Sydney for a phenomenal four hours of engaged and curious, switched on Masters of Psychology class. Part of the life stages unit, I taught older adults, death literacy, meaning-making, advance planning, icebreaker conversation starters, and grief. We got through a LOT in four hours!

Big fun, cannot wait to come back.

TFW on the same day you're intering your mum's ashes and watching the scattering of your brother's you get a phone call to conduct a funeral in a few days time at the place you've been dancing The Twist at while celebrating your mum.

Of course I will! But I didn't answer the phone because I was "otherwise engaged" - my mum got my attention and tears for a full day.

The Chubby Checker classic is now my theme for the rest of the year.

Update on why advance planning is so incredibly important. It took a month to get our brother's body released for cremation because he had no planning in place. He was finally cremated earlier today.

ID: a woman with white curly hair and a pink top smiles into the camera. There is a dull yellow folding screen behind her with maroon chrysanthemums on it.

Today is Dying to Know Day, and as I've done for the past several years I ran an information and education session free to the public.

Advance planning, comparative pricing and sharing personal experiences are some of my favourite parts of these events.

How did you spend your D2KD this year?.
