This is one of those things like #DeafGain where it helps everybody.
I often harvest the original direct links and copy-paste the text of things when I share them so that it's easier to back-search past things that somebody has shared, and it is so convenient.
And then it's helpful also for Screen Readers for #Accessibility which is important.
It's totally a win-win to add Alt Text to everything
I even have set the "Require Alt Text" setting on #BlueSky #BskyApp
