My dad died in 2021, but he's still listed on my car's paperwork. It makes me smile a bit every time I get something addressed to the both of us.

(We had joint ownership, so now I automatically have full ownership, no need to update the paperwork or go through probate.) #deaddadsclub

The American healthcare system is fucked and I wish I didn't have to interact with it. Latest thorn was trying to pick up an online order of COVID tests from the drive-thru pharmacy and, after 20 minutes in car line (stuck because there's barriers) I get told I have to go inside to pick up. I feel like crap and might be contagious. Good job, folks. I masked but still get sad dead dad† feelings mixed up with being physically too hot and now my sinuses are clear from crying.

Dreamed last night that my dad was still alive. We talked about drafting supplies.

I remember my dad taking me to Paducah, Kentucky to visit the drafting supply store. He needed something for work. I think he also got me a Pentel 0.9 mechanical pencil. It was yellow. #deaddadsclub #dream #grief

I listened to voicemails from my dad today. I have 3, from 2010, 2011, 2018. Less than 200kb. It's lovely to hear him concerned about me, making sure I wasn't calling from an unknown number in a strange area code to ask for money. Returning a real missed call. Letting me know his heart surgery went well.

It's been 4 years this month since I lost him to COVID-19 and it still stings. I wish I had more audio of his gentle voice.
